Hi there! Today I’m sharing a super easy technique on how to create envelope art to go alongside any handmade card. Sometimes, we want to add that special touch to the envelope to get the recipient super excited about what they are about to open. Plus it makes it stand out in the pile of junk mail.
From the new release, I’m using the set You’ve Got Mail. I used an envelope punch to create an envelope using a heavy weight cardstock because I’ll be inking it up.
The technique is super simple. I stamp the images I want on the front of the envelope and cut out post-it masks for them so I can color them in later without ink all over it. I picked out a stencil that had a fun design. Using distress inks, I blend three colors around the edges of the envelope. I picked Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberries, and Spun Sugar. It’s a fun combination, especially since when you blend Peacock Feathers and Picked Raspberries, you end up with a light purple.
Once I finish inking up the envelope, I go ahead and color in the images. Super easy and quick to spruce up a boring old envelope! All you need to do is address it and it’s ready to go.

Haha I only do it once in awhile or for a really special card. But I think the recipient can appreciate the extra effort. 🙂

It is nice sometimes to put that extra bit of effort into the envelope, especially if you’ve spent a lot of time making a card to go in it 🙂
